Title: Fly High
Author: Oouchi Natsumi
Artist: Oouchi Natsumi
Genres: Action, Comedy, Romance, School life, Shoujo
Chapters: 5 -ongoing

Recap of Chapter 4:

Meru is determined to make this year's School Festival a success, but with the delinquents doing whatever it takes to bring it down, Meru must face off with Uno-senpai who purposely hosts a fashion show on the day of the festival.
Will Meru's hard work all go into vain?

Chapter 5 Summary:

Determined to make the Festival a sucess, Meru seeks out help with her friends, hoping that they will be able to come up with an idea.
Surely, the genius Ruka comes up with an idea, but it would require Meru to do just about anything. From that day on till the festival, Meru is found rushing out right after school. The rebellious group starts to wonder whether she given up or not.
Ayuzawa assures the others that as long as the school remembers what had happened in the past six months, they will certaintly show up to the event and so there's nothing to be worried about.

On the day of the Festival and the Fashion Show, surely enough litterally every student appeared, that of course: includes Meru.
Though it didn't take long for Meru having to be "captured" by
Ayuzawa and Riku and gets tied up along with Ruka and Yuuki. However, little do the others know, this was all part of her plan.

When the fashion show ends,
Yuuki bursts through the doors announcing that she had heard Yano Mito is over somewhere with Kazuki Orika is there as well.
It didn't take long for every to get all excited and rush out into the direction where
Yuuki told them.

When the others in the rebel group hears that Uno never called over those two models, they quickly head outside, only to see that Meru was directing people in the direction they are supposed to go.

With the models encouraging the students to do the festival, before long it has started and the rebels asks how the heck did Meru pull it off of getting those two models.
Meru happily explains that thanks to Ruka's idea, that she had to somehow motivate the Models into showing up at their school. By doing so, she worked exceptionally hard which as results the models decided to show up to express their gratitude to her.
She then declares that it was her Victory.
Uno who refuses to admit defeat is stopped by
Ayuzawa who agrees that it's their loss.
Meru, tries to encourage the group to particapate in hte festival and try to have fun, but
Ayuzawa

Later after the festival, Ruka and Meru starts cleaning up the classroom, who was saying how she is glad that Ruka made more friends now. Ruka answers that she's a strange girl, and goes up to her and then gives her a kiss!
When they part, the two of them are speechless. Ruka quickly wipes Meru's lips with his sleeves and tells her he's going back to the school yard, and quickly leaves the room where Meru is dumbfounded.
tells her not to get too carried away.

Impression:

O.M.F.G.
Did that just happen? DID HE, RUKA JUST KISS HER!? \o O/'''
Well other than that, I'm glad that Meru won
(well it was kind of predictable that she would win this round since she's the heroine). I am also glad that we were able to learn a little secret thank to Uno about how they promised that "no matter if people hate or hold grudges against them, that they would never be victiums again."
I think that might relate to bullying, or perhaps something to do with the school's authority. But whatever it is, it has to be great enough to have a good reason (
though you really can't call anything that makes people do terrible things, "a good reason") about their actions.

Umi Monogatari Episode 4

"World Domination Pose"

Sparkling Sea-Men are the new Bishies

Summary:

With a storm taking place above the sea - while down below, Warin goes through a sunken ship in search for a weapon, claiming that she wants to save Marin and Urin while her friend Sam tells her that they are probably fine. Warin ignores him then questions Sam if he had felt that strange aura after Urin and Marin went to the surface and that she feels something bad is about to happen.

The next day, the elder turtle gives Kanon a map to a treasure that will purify her. Marin tags along while Urin is held back by Matsumoto and is told that she'd be a burden to the two of them if she goes as well.
Mean while, Marin and Kanon tries to find a passage way, when Marin suddenly starts talking about a starfish and a cucumber, when then she finds a hidden passage and falls. Kanon follows only to slip and cause the two of them to tumble down the tunnel and into an open area where then they hear a sound. Kanon tells Marin to wait behind her while she checks to see what it is - as it turns out to be a beautiful cave and a large shipwreck in front of them. While Kanon goes on how the turtle may be right about the treasure, she thinks about how she wouldn't have to hunt poisonous snakes or be a fortune teller - she is snapped out of her fantasy when Marin calls out to her to eat their lunch on the ship.
The two of them eat lunch, but then hears the sound again. When then a shadowy figure appears to attack them, only to stop - as Marin realizes that it was Warin as Warin realizes that was Marin.
While Warin gets all defensive and tries to get Marin back "saving her" from Kanon who repeatedly tries to explain to her that Marin followed her along - neither commenting on the fact that Marin claimed her as a friend. Before you know it, the two ladies start argueing while Marin tells them not to fight. Sam comes in to tell Warin to stop and had mentioned that Kanon is a cute girl who doesn't look evil. Kanon however is completely turned off and kicks him and starts releasing evil aura as she rants about how she hates it when guys do that.

Suddenly, thanks to her evil energy - she "revives" the pirate captain that is a woman who declares that she will represent Kanon's evil aura to Sedna and swings her sword after her, who then revives the skeletons to attack. Quickly, Marin transforms while Kanon starts chanting, "transforms" yet she can't. Urin and Matsumoto appears, and Marin quickly tells Urin to escape when then she's attacked then saved by Warin who tells Kanon to stop acting like an airhead and battle - though not realizing that Kanon had just finally got the magic stone to react, only to die out again when she started raging out.
Suddenly water come crashing into the cave, sweeping everyone off the ship except for Kanon and into the water below.
Once more the skeletons go after Kanon, leaving Marin having to stop them. It didn't take long when Marin gets caught by two skeletons who tries to choke her. Luckily, Warin stabs them both in the head and frees Marin.
Kanon who is watching the scene from the surface, can't help but smile as she realizes that Warin really cares for Marin, which helps her transform and create a massage blow, wiping out all the skeletons including the captain.

When everyone escapes safely - Kanon quickly breaks into the surface for air and looks down into the water where she sees Marin smiling at her.

Impression:

> > Summary sounds kind of rushed, I'm sorry about that.
Fu fu fu, well I just started shipping Kanon x Sam (Why not? XD) I absolutely laughed at how he flirted around Kanon. That was probably my favorite part of the episode (lmao).
The episode was cute - and funny (as usual). It seems that Warin doesn't trust Sky Beings, which makes me wonder if something bad happened that she witnessed or was a part of that was related to Sky Beings, but then again - that might be just me thinking too much. ^_T*

Sam on the other hand - is a complete flirt: and I seriously hope we will get to see more of him
*coughbecauseIwanttoseearelationshipgrowbetweenhimandkanoncough* since he's funny to watch, but then again he isn't a main character - so we probably won't get that much.

Urin: I'm going to mention on thing about this child.
With the way things are going, how she is being left out - ignored or rather not gainning enough attention from Marin, the dark emotion of Jealousy is flaring and that I must say, I find is completely foreshadowing the fact that it will be her, Urin who falls into Sedna's hands and serve her.
Or at least that's my theory ^_^*.

Kanon, I was happy to see that she actually wanted

Warin, she's some kickass warrior with one hell of an aim when it comes to throwing spears. It so appears she likes to targets people's heads and throats. O_o* One hell of a vicious, violet warrior indeed.

There was one more thing I wanted to mention before I finish this entry, was that I loved the symbolism they did here:

It totally represents the difference about the Sky and the Sea Priestess. That was probably my favorite symbolic scene of the episode. (Well it's probably the only one too but I wasn't really looking out for symbolic features...>_>*)

Anyways, I'll be continuing tuning in for this Anime. So far it has been keeping me interested and entertained, so there's no sign of dropping it any time soon. ^_^

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Episode 4

AnimeAngel4eva's Sibling Rule #5:
Don't hit your brother/sister after they saved your life!

Summary:

After surviving their boat ride at Hinode Pier, they are told to head over to Shiba Park where they will be able to get emergency supplies.
Mirai stomachs starts to ache as the need of having to go to bathroom increases. Mari and Yuuki thinks that she is hungry, and talks about how they'll be getting her food soon and such. With her bladder about the burst, their conversation about meals were not helping. Eventually, Mari figures it out and goes and get a "portable" toliet, which happens to be a bag - that Mirai instantly refuses to use except surrenders later after dodging a fight in line for the toilets.

Later while Mari tries to figure out the best root to get back to Sangenjaya, the two siblings sit down and take a break, while having snacks from the emergency supplies. Mirai continues attempting to recieve connection so that she can reach their parents, only once more fails.
Mari returns and tells them that they'll be able to get home soon, now that she found a route. Right after doing so and explaining the details, she tells the two children that she's just going to throw their empty bags in the garbage.

As soon as she leaves Yuuki continues to persitently asks his sister whether their parents are alright, is their home okay - which as results frustrates Mirai who tells him to stop asking her all these questions and tells him that he's the one to blame that they are stuck there in the first place.
Hurt, Yuuki tearfully explains that all he wanted to do was see the bridge that summer, and how he was thinking about her the entire time since it was her complaint that was a wish he wanted to fullfill without the burden of their parents. Devestated, Yuuki runs off.
Mirai shortly goes out to search for him, rather than waiting for Mari.

Eventually Marai finds Yuuki in a parking lot, and then is told how he wanted to go to Tokyo's Tower so that they can see if their home was alright. Shortly, he burst into tears and starts wailing how he wants to see their parents.
After being comforted by some elderly people - suddenly, the noise of something large snapping, and the sight of birds soaring into the sky as they cry; the two siblings suddenly realize that the Tokyo Tower was about to collasp, right on to them. Imeaditely Mirai and Yuuki dashes for their lives, clinging to each other's hands, fearing to be seperated.

When it falls, the burst of wind from the shock of the fall whips out causing the two of them to lose balance and lose each other's hands, disappearing into the dusts where they call out for each other.
Suddenly a large piece of debrise is spotted by Mirai, who stares at paralyized in horror when she is suddenly shoved aside by her brother - who had narrowly, but sucessfully saved her from being crushed dead.
Mirai taps Yuuki who doesn't reply, begging him to stop fooling around and talk to her. Just when she thought he was dead for sure, he turns his head and tells her he's alright.
Furious but at the same time so happy - she hits him while scolding him from scaring her like that.

Back at the park, Mari tends Yuuki's minor wounds - luckily he only got a bump on the head. Mari tells them how worried she was, and says that they should stick to their plan of heading back to Sangenjaya, but before that they should get some rest at a high school where they will be sheltering at for the night.

Impression:

Damnit Yuuki, don't scare the living daylights out of your sister!!! T__T I mean seriously, I was getting all teary and by the time a single tear rolls down my cheek he THEN turns and tells us he's alright. *Hastily wipes away the tear*

Wow, god - this is so amazingly well done I'm like...I feel the terror, in fact - it scares me even more now about the results of a Magnitude 8.0 and the results of those aftershocks!
Tokyo's Tower - I had a gut feeling (while at the same time, it was quite ironic) that as soon as they mentioned about the Tower, I said, "Damn, just how bad is this going to turn out?" and then when the tower started falling I noted, "Why are people sitting next to a tower that has the potiential to fall anytime and crush them?" - well that'll definitely tell people to NOT sit next to towers or trees or whatever: basically find any wide open space as possible, where there would be less chances of being crushed.

I found the episode focused more of the development of Mirai's and Yuuki's relationship - which in this case is a good thing since Marai has to take on the role of being the older sister and having to deal with the younger one's insane amount of questions.
I guess, considering Mirai's character, she isn't the "hopeful" type of person who would tell younger children stuff like, "Don't worry, our house is fine - Mom and Dad are safe too, no need to worry!" - but since Mirai has Parents Complex and so little patience for her brother's questions, it just makes her into a moody, bitchy person.

We didn't get to see much about Mari, but I'm just going to theorize that the next episode (since we don't get any previews ; _ ;) that it may focus on Mari's character - but then again who knows.

I really like how Bones are making this show move in a realistic slow pace. Though I can't help but wonder if each episode going to be like a whole day or a whole day and half, OR two days - it sounds like their journey of getting home might take them about a month (30/31 days) if this is how it's going to proceed, then it's likely we'll get at least 25 episodes.

Anyhow, I'll be tuning in for next week!

Canaan Episode 3 - A Trivial Matter

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Summary:

Despite the weird beginning, the episode progressing good with the Canaan - Maria intereaction during a amusing city stroll, eating ice cream (Maria HAS a big hunger, huh ;)?) while Maria saying 100 times "sugoi" in every thing (XDD).
We'll see again that girl who was in that "karaoke, cosplay and sex" location and has uncover her "upper parts" to Mino (showing also a tatoo symbol of Ua virus disease), but no in a more normal way, eating a unknown (for me) snack and sitting near and again with Mino. And... she said again nothing. Why?? I hope she won't be a mere "fan service object" next time, but seems not so cool to my eyes for now.
But in Canaan anime action is never missed (or how i see the series). In a amusement park or something, while Maria and Canaan travelling inside a sparkly/"sugoi-ing" (XD) tunnel, occur a problem: the travelling train stops and Canaan go out of this for check the situation. Maria see that kid who had his brother (that old dude) killed by Canaan and so, he abduct the girl which act arouse Canaan. She want save Maria from that annoying kid who has put a clock bomb in her head and also kick his ass very hard, but Canaan discover that Ua Virus give some cool powers and features, such as the old dude of the previous episode who has a old body, two hearts for better resistance and faster movements. After, Canaan kills the kid with some gun bullets and save Maria from the bomb. But.... they discover it was a joke, a fake bomb (this was lame, seriously) and the kid dies saying the bomb was really a joke not a real one. But now it's too late, kid: Canaan's coldness is priceless.

Impression
"Eh? What the hell?" I said when i began to see the 3th ep of Canaan. Why?? Simple: what the heck you put that "fanservice"catgirl in this anime which started very good and promising? I cannot stand this. Why some good anime series begin awesome and continue in a confusing/messy way?? By the way, it's better finish this rant or i'll become annoying XD!
However, this episode was very messed and, in some parts, pretty lame as in the fanservice beginning or at the end with that joke bomb, but still good and i'm always willing to follow this anime for seeing its development, because the plot and some characters are very good, but some things are a little out of place here. Hoping for a better development on the next episode ;)!

Momo ~ Chapter 1 ~

Title: Momo
Author: Sakai Mayu
Artist: Sakai Mayu
Genres:
Romance, Supernatural, Shoujo
Chapters:
10 - ongoing

Story Summary:

Having an unlucky day is one thing, but living an unfortunate life is another!
Odagiri Yume, the unlucky, unmotivated and good-for-nothing saves a girl named Momo who claims that she is an Upper Class Devil. Accidentally, Yume confesses her wish to become special and Momo grants it: making Yume the representative of the Earth!
However, Yume must now give Momo seven good reasons why the Earth shouldn't be destroyed, by her 18th Birthday. The countdown for the end of the world has begun and only Momo can change that fate.

Chapter 1 Summary:

The morning for Odagiri Yume starts off roughly with her Dad leaving behind a note of running away, laying low due to a debt, a cake from her friend only to be dropped on the ground,
she has to do a make up exam due to an error and to top things off; her crush now has a girlfriend.
Heading home, she notices a small girl running onto the road to retrieve a fallen apple as a car is coming. Yume quickly pulls the girl off the street, successfully saving her. A man appears with shopping bags calling out to the girl named Momo, and asks if they are alright. The Momo points to Yume and says she's the one that's hurts, and so Yume is invited to their house.

When they get to the Momo's house, Yume takes note of how elegant and rich the property was. Just then a handsome boy appears from the house and greets them, as Momo tells him to treat Yume's wound and give her some tea. He looks at Yume and replies bluntly that she doesn't look like she needs medical treatment.
Momo takes Yume into the terrace, where they introduce each other. Yume asks if she could adress her with 'chan'. She then asks if she is an elementary or a preschool student, when then Momo claims that she is The Devil. Thinking this was a game of "house", Yume explains how she thinks Momo looks more like a Princess than a Devil. She also confesses that she is somewhat jealous about how Momo lives in a beautiful how, gets to wear such a fitting dress and from head to toe she gives off an aura that she is a special girl. Momo then asks if Yume wants to be special too.
Suddenly, they are interrupted by Nanagi who tells her to drink her tea and go home. Furious, she gulps down the tea and heads off.

On the way home, Yume is greeted by who suddenly freaks out how he heard a cat in the box, which was in the river. Determined to save it, and knowing that Kanaka didn't know how to swim, Yume heads off into the river to retrieve the box....which only turned out to be a teddy bear inside of it. In rage she scolds her friend, only to then be pulled under and loosing consciousness.

Later on, Yume awakens only to find herself in different clothes and in a room she did not recognize.
And of course, is greeted by no other than Nanagi himself who asks if she is alright.
It turns out that she was rescued by Nanagi, who was called to help by Momo - and happened to be the one who changed her clothes.
Absolutely horrified from embarrassment she kicks him out and quickly gets dress while her friend Kanaka asks her to open up. She starts reviewing how horrible and miserable her day was, even though it's her birthday out of all things. She tells herself how not one good thing happened, for this world it would be better if it all ended, and even now it's too late.

Momo who happened to hear her thoughts tells her that she can grant her wish. Surprised and confused Yume opens the door to get a better exclamation of what Momo was talking about, finding herself in open mysterious space, also known as another dimension. Kanaka who happened to be there as well couldn't take this all in and just fainted.
Yume finds Momo floating and demands her what's going on, only to learn that Momo exists to destroy planets that don't have a good enough reason to exist.
As it turns out, Earth happens to be Momo's next target, and she has granted Yume's wish of being a special person as being the representative of Earth. Yume now must show her 7 sufficient reasons why this planet should live on. In other words, seven things that makes her (Yume) happy.
Yume decides to accepts that role as the representative, as then Momo explains that the deadline is in two years, which will be on Yume's 18th Birthday.

The countdown for the world destruction has begun.

First Impression:

Bleh, first I would like to apologize how terrible that summary was -_-*
I really, really, really liked this chapter! It's super cute and I absolutely adore Momo! I wanna hug her! She's so freaking adorable!!! I'm very amused how this will turn out. I am a sucker for fanasty and supernatural shoujo stories, and I can't wait to see how this whole thing is going to turn out.
What makes me wonder is, will it actually really take Yume 2 years to think about seven good things about Earth? But then again, what would you do if you were in such position as her?

Anyhow, I'm actually up to chapter 10, which I'll do a jump entry on. (ahaha, like I'm doing with La Corda d'Oro since I'm way over at chapter 60 over there, and I'm not about to do 60 entries on each chapter right this second. > <*) Anyhow, it's really cute and with the current pace right now, I really recommand you to read it if you are a Shoujo fan, Fanasty lover, and of course: a sucker to cute things. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Episode 3

Friday, July 24, 2009

Summary:

It's hot, there's danger, they gotta get home.
Mirai and Yuuki wakes up from the army helicopters, realizing all what had happened, was not a dream. The two of the realizes that Mari, the woman who had helped them is not there, only then she reappears with breakfast. Mirai confesses that she had thought Mari haven't left them and headed home, the woman teases her about being lonely. Mari decides to make a promise that whereone one of them goes, the others follows. This way, no one is left behind.
Later in the day, the heat increases, not making their situation any better. The three of them take a quick look at the news update, only to learn that all transporation aren't working, and the only way to get back home is by walking. They are also warned that there will be after shocks with a magnitude of 5.0. Then Japan's Coastguard appears announcing that they will be taking victims from Odaiba to Hinode Pier on a sea bus.
The three of them head down to the boat stop, Mirai refuses to take Mari's hand when she offered, only to get seperated shortly, when an aftershock occured. Luckily she was found by Mari, and this time, held her hand. Within a short period of time, another aftershock occurs, and a bridge crashes down just in front of them, in a crowd of people who are most definitely...dead.
They hurry the bridge, Mari warns them to not let go of her hands. While walking down the stairs to the harbour, a person trips, then suddenly a whole crowd of people starts being shoved and push aside like dominos, Yuuki, unable to hang on to Mari's hands gets swept away like a current. Once more; luck was on their side, Yuuki was reunited with his sister and Mari.
They arrive to the sea-bus only to see it full and hope to catch the next one, but then an officer notices Yuuki and Marai as children and tells them to get on the boat, then he notices Mari and calls her, 'Mom' which allowed the three of them to pretend they were a family and get on.
Afterwards, Mirai comments about Mirai's actions and how she's such a shrewd. Mirai admits that's true, and that she has become stronger ever since her husband has passed away.
Yuuki, who notices a bridge that continues blaze in flames asks why it was still on fire, Mari explains that a tanker truck was on it. The three of them notices the boat that was hosing out the fire was backing away, retreating from the bridge.
Suddenly, the bridge explodes, and crumbles into the river, creating a huge wave, taking out the second sea bus behind them ruthlessly, the wave has not stopped however and is still heading in their direction. Everyone on the boat clings on for their dear lives as they take on the wave, luckily ended up riding it, rather than being swallowed by it.
Mirai realizes how lucky they were to be on the first boat and wonders what could have been their fate if they ended up being on the second one. She quickly notices that Mari has were shaking as she hugs the two of them, she apologizes about putting them in danger, but instead Mari thanks her.

Impression:

Okay I'll be dead honest, as soon as Mirai got seperated and walked under that overpass, i KNEW that there'd be an aftershock. And hell, from that moment on and throughout the rest of the episode I thinking like, "Crap, this is scaring the hell out of me.". And it is scary! I still have the goosebumps and shivers from this episode! Talk about drama and gosh, how much more realistic could this get? (Or maybe it's just me, since I'm a very realistic person)
I really like how BONES made Mari's character. They are proving excellent points about why it's best to be opstimistic about the worse-case scenario. Truely, Mari's character would probably be an inspiration to some people, and I wouldn't be surprised.
Mirai is definitely ungoing a character development. She's so uptight about how everyone is treating her like a kid, when really she just forgotten how to act like one. And the ones to blame...I would say her parents. I am eager to see the results of her character development, and as I said back in my First Impression, I would exspect the outcome of all this to make her cherish her family, and live out her life.
Boy, I can't wait to see the next episode!!!

But then at school, there's a group of rebellious eighth graders who picks on the weak and play their own rules. Will Meru be able to take them on and stop their ruthless behavior as the new Student Council President? Or will she become known as a, "Monster Melt King" as her mother warned?

Chapter 1 Summary:

Meru Tachibana returns home with her father after 7 years of training, who had thought for the entire time that she was a boy. Meru happily announces that she has become really strong.
Her mother, who is concerned about her reputation at school warns her that she should be careful of how she uses her strength, otherwise she would be known as a, "Monster Melt King".
Later in April, Meru heads off for her first day of Junior High, swearing that she'll live out her school life as a normal human being.
Meru meets a girl in the same class as her named Yuuki Chiyo, who had helped her untangle her hair which had got caught in the bushes. The two of them head off to attend the assembly.
The assembly was going smoothly until a gang of eighth graders make an entrance and set off fireworks inside the assembly hall, scaring students near by.
The student council vice president who was doing the speech was then thrown off the stage, and the mic was then taken over by the group's leader Ayusawa Kazuya who warns (more like threatens) whoever disobeys their group would be punished.
After the assembly, Yuuki explains about the rebellious group and the people in it. She also mentions how the Teachers and Students are both picked on for no good reason. Yuuki shows Meru the Student Council room only to see a scene where the Vice President is trying to tell the delinquent that they have saw earlier that morning spraypainting the room. Just before Ayuzawa sprays the vice president in the face, Meru jumps into the scene pushing his hand away from the prez's face, telling them to stop what they are doing.
The delinquents imeaditely idenify her as a new student and asks her to come with them onto the rooftop.

Of course, they brought her up to the rooftop to punish her. Imeaditely she calls herself an idiot as she is soon surrounded. She then spots a sleeping boy and asks him to help her. He replies, "I'm sleepy, so no way." She tries again telling him to be a man.
Time is running out and the group is making her situation more isolated. She then makes her choice to jump from the roof and on to a tree branch. She had sucessfully escaped.
Ayuzawa warns her to never oppose them again, and Meru replies, "Yeah, Right."

After climbing down the tree, Meru is greeted by Yuuki who was worried for her and was relieved that she was safe. Meru instantly notices a pretty garden where Yuuki explains that the club that is growing them are preparing them for the festival.

The next day, Meru meets up with Yuuki only to find the flower garden in ruins. Yuuki tells her that she knew that this school was crazy, and how she tells herself that everyone has to bear with this absurdness, and how she has to pretend not to feel scared and put up with many things, but she really can't put up with anything after all.
As if that was all Meru needed to hear, she jumps to a tree and onto the rooftop where the gang is and tells them directly, that she will become their new enemy and become the Student Council President.

First Impression:

I really like this chapter, and for it's kick off to start off this story definitely grabbed my attention of wanting to continue reading this.
I absolutely love Meru's character and how her uber strength will be used to defeat this gang and make their school a better place.

I'll also make a note that I am already up to chapter 4, waiting for the updates. From here on, things certainly get interesting, and the story moves foward in the direction that'll keep me reading.

I would recommand this to readers who like strong heroines and adore shoujo mangas. Since I am a shoujo fan (insanely one too), yes despite the age of the characters, this story is cute and motivating. And I will continue keeping an eye on this one.
(Though I don't know how long it'll be till it's updated...>_>)

Extra Note: Give lots of thanks and credits to StarryHeavens who are doing the translation for this manga!!!

Canaan Episode 2 "A Cruel Game"

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Summary

And now it's time for the review of the 2nd ep of Canaan. The pacing seems a little bit slow at the beginning but doesn't ruin the atmosphere, this time we see Alphard the Leader of the Snakes escaping from that military force and kick their ass with the help of her sister and the assistant Cummings and after, she goes away from them with an helicopter.

The strange deaths during the first episode were people infected from a lethal and terrible virus called Ua, which cause a intense bleed in the infected body and death: in fact the death rate is 100%. One of the survivors to this virus was Maria Oosawa thanks to an anti-virus crated by her father who was the chairman of a pharmaceutical research lab, but Maria's amnesia made lost her memories about this fact.

In the meantime, Maria and Mino (that man always with her) were eating in a Chinese restaurant but suddenly, a car crashes inside the restaurant: the Snakes have targeted them for reach more easily Canaan. A blue car pursuing the two, luckily a mad taxi driver accept to help them and give a cool ride with a very fast driving and a cute sugary jpop song on the background (High Tension!! I'd like download that song XD!) . And finally come Canaan for fighting that old crazy dude from the Snakes. She defeat him with the use of Synesthesia and he dies electrocuted and scared people see his dead body on the top.

Mino and Maria return in hotel (it was a hotel room?? or anything else?) but their room was full of blood included the little white cat plush, present from Canaan to Maria. What did happen here? After, they are outside that place during that strange night but.... a strange vision caught their attention: a sexy cat girl with light green hair appears with a "meow paw" (omg, i wanna be like her XD!! Kidding XD!).

Impression:

This episode was useful for clear up some of the mysterious things happen during the first episode. The beginnign was pretty slow but after, during the ride and Canaan fight, recatch my attention again, especially the taxi ride and the cute jpop song XD. The fight was decent, but not too awesome and that cat girl at the end was pretty ehm... out of place?? I hope the series will advance better for become a gold anime and not a lame or a tin-pot series. We lie in wait and hope in a good twist next time (maybe that catgirl isn't too out of place in the series, who knows).

Umineko no Naku Koro ni
When Seagulls cry

Sinopsis:

Umineko no Naku Koro ni takes place primarily in the year 1986 on a small, secluded island named Rokkenjima (六軒島?) owned and lived on by Kinzou, the head of the wealthy Ushiromiya family. Kinzo is near death, and eight of his family members arrive on the island for the annual family conference, where the adults plan to discuss how Kinzo's assets will be divided once he is dead. Also on the island are three family members who live there, five of Kinzo's servants, and his personal physician. After the eight family members arrive, a typhoon traps them on the island, and shortly after, strange things start to happen and people start dying.

Summary:

Episode 01.- Opening.

The show starts with a stormy night and Kinzou getting informed by his physician that he only has 3 months to live. Kinzou calls out to an unknown woman by the name of Beatrice and telling her that he will give back everything that she has given given him.
The next day Kinzou's family members are seen sailing to his island, named Rokken, as they are going to attend the anual Ushiromiya family reunion. Battler, our main character and a happy-go-lucky pervert, jumps out of the boat as it seems he prefers to be on solid ground than water, he presents us the rest of his family that were traveling on the boat with him.

[George Ushiromiya: Battler's cousin, the smart one of the bunch, he has a gentle demeanor.
Maria Ushiromiya: The youngest cousin, cute and creepy at the same time.
Rosa Ushiromiya: Maria's mother, she looks way too young to be an aunt! XD
Hideyoshi and Eva Ushiromiya: Eva is the sister of Battler's father, Hideyoshi is her husband.
Rudolf Ushiromiya and Kirie: Battler's parents.]

They are greeted at the deck by Battler's cousin Jessica, which Battler hasn't seen in six year and is very impressed by her "growth", and as well by granny Chiyo (a servant of the family) and Toshirou (another servant). Maria notices that somethingis missing at the cliff near the deck, Jessica tells her that the old shrine that was located it there got destroy by lightining. They make their way to the mansion.

[Jessica Ushiromiya: Battler's 18 year old cousin, Battler wants to squeeze her boobs....she is not amused.
Chiyo Kumasawa: An old woman, servant of the family.
Toushirou Goudai: A male servant.]

Once they get to the mansion, they are "greeted" by Kanon (another, young male, servant) and once inside they meet Shanon (another, young female, servant).
Meanwhile Klaus, Genji and Kinzou's physician are outisde of his door trying to get him out of the room with no success.

[Kanon: A serious looking, quiet boy, servant of the family. He thinks of himself as furniture for their employers.
Shanon: A cute and shy female servant, quite voluptous, a fact that Battler doesn't mind.
Klaus Ushiromiya: The eldest of the Ushiromiya siblings and the heir of the family.
Kinzou Ushiromiya: The man that has 3 months to live, Battler's grandfather.
Genji Runoue: Another, older looking male, servant.]

On the entrance of the mansion, Butler and his cousins are looking a a giant painting on one of the walls, a painting of a woman called Beatrice the witch, which was ordered by Kinzou himself.
During dinner, Battler explains to us that the Ushiromiya was a wealthy family thanks to their spinning mills back in the late 1800 and early 1900, but that they lost many family members and wealth after the Great Kanto earthquake on 1923. Kinzou was the one that had the task to bring to his family their previous glory, and has been successful (by unknown means) for the last 20 years.

After dinner, Kinzou's sons and daughters (along with their spouses) are having a conversation about their father's assets. It is revealed that Klaus is diverting his father's funds to his own business (a hotel).

[Natsuhi Ushinomiya: Klaus' wife, according to Eva, she is just being used to give birth to the next heir of the family.]

At the beach, Battler, Jessica, Maria and George are having a picnic. They start talking about a legend that is tied with their family as it involves on how exactly Kinzou got his family fortune back.
Battler says that Kinzou told them that he once met the Golden Witch Beatrice and made a pact with her; in exchange of his soul, Beatrice would give him 10 tons of gold (20 billion yen).

Back to the conversation with the siblings. Rudolf, Eva and Hideyoshi tell Klaus they will let him handle the funds with 4 conditions:

1.- He must find the gold.
2.- He will allow each sibling a portion of the gold.
3.- The heir of the family will receive 50% of the gold, the other 50% will be split between the siblings and that of course includes him. This means he will receive 12.5 billion yen and they (Rudolf, Eva and Rose) will get 2.5 billion.
4.- The gold will be split when Kinzou dies, but 10% will be paid to each of them as of now and the rest before March of the next year. (A 700 million yen deposit)

But Klaus is not out of the loop as he may seem, he knows his siblings are in financial problems just as much as them, and he doesn't hesitate at telling them. All in all, they all are in need of money so they will find the gold at any "cost".

As the day progresses, the clouds begin to gather. The younger cousins after coming from their picnic at the beach and receiving a scorpion medallion from Maria (for protection against magic) from Maria, they return to the mansion and start to search for a sick rose they saw when they arrived and marked with a bow, but to no avail. Maria asks for her mother's help when she saw her walking by.
Since they can't find the rose, Maria starts to make the most annoying sound ever (aaauuu~ over and over again) until her mother snaps and smacks her around, much to the surprise of Battler and his other two cousins. They leave the two to settle things by themselves but since Maria is still making that annoying sound and would not give up on searching for the flower, Rose left her there by herself.

After a while, the rain picks up and Maria, naturally, is nowhere to be seen. Meanwhile, Kinzou is talking to the storm again, screaming to Beatrice that she is late and he'll start by giving her his family crest, now the banquet can begin.
Battler, George and Jessica help Rose find Maria, she was standing not too far away with an umbrella (which she didn't have before). Rose apologizes to her, she just responds that she couldn't find the rose. When asked about her umbrella, she tells them that Beatrice was the one that lent her the umbrella.

Impression:

Let me start by saying that the intro and ending video are really great. They capture you with their eerie magical ember like butterflies, the changes between the beautifuly colored antique like designs, in both the characters and backgrounds, to red colored old movie scenes is a nice touch that adds to the dramatic feel of the show. Even the songs are attractive in a spooky kind of way.

This show was based off a video game and the when the cry series (like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni -kai) so we can expect to get confused at some point of the story. I wonder if the killings that will happen (because there's no doubt that they will) will be as graphic as it's others when they cry series.

A lot of information was given in this episode and we got to meet the cast, but not much has happened as of yet, I only hope the action/mistery starts with the next episode.
I enjoyed this episode quite a bit and would recommend you guys give it a shot.

Next episode is called: First Move.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Episode 2

Recap
"I wish that everything would break." A Magnitude Earthquake have struck, and the city and falling apart. Building collapsing, water exploding from the fire hydrants, the bridges waving, the city is facing disaster. And what's worse: Yuuko is no where to be seen.

Summary:

The earthquake comes to an end, and the damage result is mysterious.
Mirai looks about for her brother and enters back into the Mall where survivors are evacuating.
Taking a map, Mirai takes a risk and searches for her brother.
In the mean time, she is stopped by a policeman who was evacuating the citizens.
Suddenly the building starts shaking again causing her to collapsed, and nearly getting crushed by a piece of of the ceiling; though was luckily saved by the woman she met earlier.

The woman recognizes her and asks where her brother is, and where her parents are.
Mirai answers that they came alone and how she has to find them.
The woman then decided to help her find her brother.

The building is in terrible shape, smoke, toilets overflowing. Bodies of the injured are getting carried out by folks that are able to walk. The two of them continue deeper and ask the people who are leaving for the exit if they have seen Yuuki. A family said they saw some children at a toy store. Imeaditely after hearing that, Mirai took off with the woman following close behind.

The two of them arrives at a dangerous, unstable stairway. The woman tries to warn Mirai not to use it, but Mirai ignores her jumping from the large gap and dashing down, when suddenly the stairway collapse and the woman manages to pull her out of the way just on time. Saving her once more. She then scolds her for acting reckless, Mirai ignores her and hurries off only to be caught by the woman who then apologizes explaining that wasn't the way she should have said it.

The building shakes again, more structures collapse onto the small group of people who were saving a child, who was unfortunately not Yuuki. Mirai once more starts shouting out Yuuki's name, but then sees bodies under a large block. It is clear that they are dead.

The woman explains to her how they need to get out of there, Mirai tells her to go alone, but the woman told her that it isn't worth to risk her life when her brother could have already evacuated.

On their way out, Mirai notices a store that sells drinks. Immediately she remembers that he had gone to buy a drink after he went to the washroom. She then hurries inside and hears someone shouting for help. She and woman reply they are going to help.
Then a voice from underneath and an arm waves asking, "Mirai is that you?"
Yuuki is found.

He survived thanks to a store clerk who was the one who shouted for help, who also survived. The four of them makes it out of the building and take shelter. The store clerk manages to reunite with a friend, leaving the three left together.

After siting down, the three of them hear on the news on someone's iseg, the woman takes out hers where they watch the news announcement, while Mirai tries to contact home, but the connection fails. The news announces how four hours ago, a massive earthquake hit the center of the Kanto region. The magnitude is estimated to be 8.0 on the Richter scale.
Mirai tries once more with her cellphone but fails. Apparently only isegs work.

The woman offers to help them get back home. Mirai asks her why she was helping them, and the woman answers that she's a person. She tells Yuuki how desperate her sister was trying to find him, and how she's a good sister.
Finally the woman introduces herself: her name is Kursakabe Mari.

Mari explains how she lives with her mother and daughter, and how she's always working and feels sad how she doesn't have alot of time for her daughter. She tells them how her daughter always wanted a swing, so she works hard to be able to afford one. Then suddenly she says she'll return with some stuff since she parked her bike near by.
Mirai asumes that she headed home, leaving them alone.

Just has she returns, there was an after shock, luckily was a small one. She then announces she has cake, that is kind of messed up. Mirai studies it and notices it saying, "Happy Birthday Hina". Mari explains that it's her daughter's 4th birthday. Mirai smiles how the cake is round.

After finish eating, Yuuki had already fallen asleep. Mirai wonders what she is going to do now. Mari says that she should have some rest.

Impression:

Wow, the episode was, wow. I was absolutely teary since we had no idea where Yuuki was. But inthe back of my head I kept going on, "
Check where he'd get a drink!". I'm very happy that Yuuki was alive, along with the store clerk ^_^.

Bones absolutely made this episode take its time to explain just about everything. They didn't rush it whatsoever. They made it very detailed about the damages, and the situation realistic.
(
Of course that's how they intended to have it in the first place: so awesome job BONES!)
Another thing they did a great job in was the animation quality, which is probably why everything was detailed so well. XD

I'm quite curious of what's going to take place from here on.
Will they face another earthquake? An aftershock? Tsunami? What's more to come?

We don't get much of a preview, though either way, that isn't stopping me from watching the next episode, ha ha ha.

Fortune Telling Ad or a Death Note?

Summary:

Kanon was looking forward for a quiet morning, only to see that Marin, Urin, Matsumoto and her mother sitting at the table watching television. It turns out they came so that they can awaken hers and Marin's true powers. Her mother also supports the idea of Kanon being a priestess. Kanon protests that she doesn't have time to be a priestess due to her preparation for the entrance exams for University, and how she isn't going to become a fortune-teller either.
She rants about how much she is sick of island, and how she wants to live a stylish life in the city, how she wants to see the whole world. She then leaves for a bath.
Her mother suddenly starts telling Marin and the others about how she thinks that Kanon has been storing up evil feelings since she was young. Her mother also finds out from Marin and Urin that Kanon was dumped by her ex.
Later after Kanon gets out of the bath, she receives a call from an 'annoying person' called Suzuki who was inviting her to join a hang out with the girls in their class. Kanon refuses the invitation by exclaiming how she has to study and work.
Mean while, Marin and Urin gets some clothes, and accompany Kanon to work.
While handing out ads, Marin explains how when she found the ring, she suddenly had the urge to go to the surface, to see a whole new world. Kanon asks whether that means she wants her to attend university rather than be a priestess.
Suddenly Kanon spots Suzuki whom she was talking to on the phone earlier who was looking for her, leaving Marin to fill her for her while she hides.
Marin offers a "fortune telling" but instead the conversation leads on to how Suzuki is friends with Kanon and explained further why Kanon was always considered scary, but how she noticed that Kanon always taken the jobs that no one else wanted to do, probably because she hated seing people quarrel.
Kanon who is eavesdropping becomes confused, not quite understanding why Suzuki was saying those things, and why Marin replied saying that she's a kind person.

After Suzuki leaves, Marin who did not realize that was Suzuki but was told by Kanon, explains that she probably wants to be Kanon's friend. However Kanon jerks about how that can't be true since she is evil and people avoid her. Marin tells her that she'll always be her friend with a hug, but Kanon pushes her away and claims that she will just do the same as every else does and runs away.

Urin goes chasing after her and yells at her asking why does Kanon always says evil things, and how she can't become the pristess of the sky. Kanon replies that she doesn't want to be a priestess, but then Urin starts hitting her back and exclaiming how she wants to be the priestess of the sky, and how she wants to defeat Sedna, but as much as she wants to be it, she can't.

Suddenly two evil servants of Sedna's appears, targetting Kanon just like the previous servant claiming that they found an evil soul. One attack Urin while the other tries to kiss Kanon, only Kanon to be saved by Marin, who appeared just on time, telling her and Urin to runaway.

Indeed Kanon runs away without hestation at first claiming how she'll never do another dirty job, and how she doesn't do stupid things because she wants to. But in the end she returns and takes on the role of being the sky priestess as much as she doesn't want to be one and aids Marin in battle.

Kanon attacks the servants, with one of them tries to protect the other who gets hurt. Marin approaches them and purifies them, returning them back into the sea.
Later on Kanon goes to see Suzuki and gives her a coupon for Fortune-Telling and how that she'll do it herself and that she is starting to think that she won't go to university, and how she'll try and become more pure.

Impression:

We certainly got to learn more about Kanon's character and receive more background about her personality and how her childhood made her into her person she is now. And also, this episode definitely confirmed that Kanon is a very very stubborn person.
There was also something I noticed: the sea creatures that are cursed by Sedna into evil beings still has their own mind when it comes to someone important to them.
I'm also starting to wonder if it'll only be sea creatures that'd be cursed by Sedna. I'm kind of hoping to see some animals on the island, or even humans being manipulated. I think when that happens, there was might be a whole new level of enemies then.

Marin and Urin looked absolutely adorable in their outfits, and I'm pretty glad to see them in actual clothing rather than their usual outfits (ahaha). Their reaction when they heard the bath water go on and their reaction towards bubbles and hot water was fun to watch.

Overall, I would say the episode was decent. At least like I just said, we got to learn more Kanon.
Judging the preview it looks like that we'll be under the ocean, along with seeing the two other sea beings we saw in the first episode!!!! ^______^ I already can see myself laughing over Kanon's reactions if she has to go under the sea as well. But who knows, maybe she can't! That I might find amusing as well (I don't know why though, hahaha).

Bloody Monday - First Five Chapters

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Summary: On a dark, snowy night in an undisclosed location in Russia, a mysterious woman --- named "Maya" --- receives a mysterious package. Within that package lies a secret; a secret with the potential to destroy the entire world.

Maya leaves with her package, followed by a male companion, and departs on a train. Before she leaves, she plants a single kiss on her companion, effectively planting the first seed of her intentions. Within her mysterious package lay a container; filled with a man-made virus capable of infecting and killing millions. She leaves her first victim to unknowningly spread the disease to everyone else he knows, and departs to her homeland: Japan.

--

Meanwhile, an infamous high-school computer hacker named Fujimaru Takagi (alias, Falcon) faces several dilemmas. A mysterious new professor arrives to teach at his school, named Orihara Maya, and strange, new developments begin to unfold. His father, an important government agent, present his son with a strange code, "Bloody Monday", which he must crack and reveal to the agency for safekeeping.

After a mysterious virus kills off a segment of the Russian population, Fujimaru has been recruited by the Japanese government to find out what happened in Russia when Third-I government agents had recovered an unknown memory stick containing files of the incident.

With his father accused of murdering his superior, Fujimaru is driven by the quest to find out the truth behind Bloody Monday.

And all the while, the mysterious Maya watches from the shadows, waiting for the chance to unveil her own dark intentions.

----

Impression: The first few chapters of the manga series, Bloody Monday by Ryuumon Ryou, have so far given me a very good impression of the series. There is a high level of suspense, woven neatly into the accomodating level of horror and despair. The setting, a normal, high school environment, gives the events taking place a dark aura... as if something is just waiting to jum put from the normal scene and become somethign much more terrifying.

Fujimaru is a likeable hero; he is very protective of his little sister, Haruka, but also knows that the government is relying on him and knows when to swtich between 'big brother mode' to 'dangerous hacker mode'.

The supporting cast of the series is also rather interesting; the ambiguous female spy named Houshou, the fiery, blackbelt classmate of Fujimaru's; Aoi, the skilled archer class representative Otoya, and many more. And of course, the sultry, mysterious Maya whose viral intentions are still yet to be revelead.

Overall, this is a dark, intense series with strange and suspenseful plot developments. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good dash of sci-fi, horror, and thriller genres.

And summer has come... with a bunch of new and cool anime series! One of the series which caught my attention was "Canaan", based on a game for Nintendo Wii.

Summary:

There is a festival on Shanghai... balloons fly in the sky, people is crazy and happy for this event but there is a strange feeling here, nothing is too safe for labeled this festival as "normal", cause someone dies when put off that animal mask for unknown reasons. And the children laugh and jump during this, seems they don't understand the real fact. In this party mood Canaan, the girl with short and white hair, jumps and run with her gun shooting here and there (man, i love her action "mode") and in the meantime Maria, a blond photographer young girl, stroll around on the city making photos of the festival. But, she discover a thing: Canaan is alive. And she meets her. Why Canaan is important for Maria? Who is in depth Canaan? What is this red thread?

In the episode, there is also a blue haired girl caught by a military force or something cause she was the leader of the Snake organization, if i don't remember right.

First Impression:

This series starts very good and i bet it will be a gold series for this summer without doubt! I like the characters here, especially Canaan and her bonds towards Maria, maybe the least likely for me is that Chinese girl who likes showed her nakedness, mmm.... maybe when i see her fighting I'll change my idea, but it's not sure.

Before watching Canaan, i thought it was "a la Black Lagoon" anime but now i realized it's a totally different thing, maybe better! For finish, i wanna add a thing: the opening and the ending are soo awesome, high quality music here! The developers have made a good choice here!

And don't forget to see the episode! It's worth-watching!

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Episode 1

Friday, July 10, 2009

Summary:

A young middle school girl stares out at the diaster before her, talking about how she hates her city, her house and parents, she had enough. Everything should break.

The story character is named Onozawa Mirai, a young middle school student who is always loaded with responiblities because of her parents work. Because of this, she has become rebellious and writes little journal entries on her phone.
As it happens, it's her mother's birthday, and her little brother Yuuki was eager and hoped to give his card to their mother, only in the end, didn't get to. After seeing a picture on the Mirai's desk, Yuuki comes up with an idea and the next morning he asks if he could go to a Robot exhibition.
And off to the Robot exhibition they went. At first Mirai was absolutely bored, but then quickly became estatic when she was able to play around with a robot, but the excitement didn't last long when a mother with a child complained that she was taking too long.
Later, Yuuki decides that they should buy their mother a gift. At the gift shop they meet a woman that they had walked past earlier on their way to the exhibition, who had taken the item they wanted only to generously give it back to them claimming that she was too old for it, even though Mirai refused her, but in the end her little brother accepted it.

Before heading home, Yuuki had to go to the washroom. Mirai told him that she'll be waiting outside, only to be run into by a little kid with icecream, which was stuck to the back of her skirt.
In the bathroom after cleanning her skirt up, Mirai expresses her frustration about how everything makes her angry. Then, while typing on her phone, she wonders if anything good would happen in her life, how she had enough, everything's such a bother, everything should just break...
Right on the cue, the city starts shaking, building collasping, bridges and sidewalks are caving in...
And Yuuki, is nowhere to be seen.

--------First Impression-------

I absolutely loved this episode! I had goosebumps from the moment the episode started knowing that diaster was to strike eventually.
I think the plot of having a parents complex for Mirai will help develop her character in the long run, and would probably make her cherish and live out her life in the future. (
That is if her parents are alive, we don't know *shrugs*)

The earthquake was, wow - what a timing when she said, "I wish everything would break." It also can be considered as, Be careful what you wish for, reminder lesson.

But but but....*
looks all teary* WHAT ABOUT HER BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD! HE HAS TO LIVE! OR ELSE I'M GOING TO CRY~!!!!! (Hell I always cry for these things)
It'd just suck (
for me) to not have him. But I'm pretty sure he'll miraculiously be alive. Probably thanks to that woman (that literally been foreshadowing throughout the entire episode).

The opening and the ending were both well done. I really loved the opening, it was so different, so unique. The ED was great too. As expected from
BONES, they are definitely on the right track with this production - after all, it's their ORIGINAL one too. :D *coughunlikeKyoAnicough*

As for the next episode, we get no preview except that the disaster, 8.0 Magnitude.
We'll be seeing more of how Mirai keeps herself alive, and hopefully she'll find her brother.
Though recalling the mall collapsing behind her...oh god, I'm afraid to think what happened.
But then again (
remember how she asked her brother to get her a drink?), I'm pretty sure (hoping) that when Yuuki went to get something for them to drink, that the woman was there and the two of them escaped (just barely) ^_^
I'll pat myself on the shoulder if I'm right.
And if he's dead.
Well expect me to be mourning him. I already loved that kid.
