ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER!!!

Summary:

Since the Sports Festival ended, Seiso Academy has been preparing for the Cultural Festival - and Hino has been enduring the stress of practicing to pursuit perfection with the help of Tsukimori. However the pursuit to perfection isn't the only thing she has in mind. Ever since Ryotaro said that he wanted to tell her something after the concours, she has been trying to figure out what it could possibly be. She comes across with a suggested conclusion that it's going to be a confession - but then she quickly pushes that aside claiming that she's thinking too much.
Kaji appears at the rooftop to chat with her. They talk about their class play, where Kaji is Romeo. He admits he would've preferred Hino being Juliet, but understands that she has alot on her hands right now. Hino asks what instrument he plays since he seems really familiar with music, but then suddenly said she'd go and buy them drinks and asked him to hold her violin.
When she returns, she hears Kaji playing with her violin. She is surprised to see that he's a violinist, but he corrects her and says he plays the Viola, but it's just a hobby of his that he keeps as a secret.

Later on, Hino gathers with the others where they discuss about Hihara's idea of a small scale performance to advertise the school's events. Everyone thinks it's a good idea and that it sounds like fun, and that they'll play an opening piece that is quick and has a bouncy tune. With that decided, they go and tell Kanazawa-sensei about their decision.

After school, the group gathers once more and decides to go to a new cafe that Yunoki would be treating the juniors only - in other words, Hihara would have to pay for his own treat. Hino notices that Ryotaro isn't around, and Yunoki explains that he went to retrieve something he forgotten. Right on the cue, back inside the school Ryotaro runs into Tsukimori who is also leaving - with no other choice the two of them walk to the exit together.

Ryotaro can't help but feel very awkward since he blurted out that he's going to confess to Hino after the Concours to Tsukimori last time they talked. Uncertain whether to bring it up, Tsukimori who happened to have a similar thought in his mind suddenly asked him: What was it that Ryotaro liked about Hino?
Ryotaro is surprised and tells him the reasons why, but then quickly stops himself and decides to change the topic to when is Tsukimori gong to leave for his studies abroad. Tsukimori looked pained when he tells Ryotaro the date, leaving the pianist dumbfounded and shocked, ending the chapter with no answer but him replying, "-.... ....Eh? ... That day is...".

Impression:

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY~?
ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER - AND IT HAS TO DO WITH WHEN TSUKIMORI IS LEAVING!!!
*cries* Tsukimori-kun~ don't leave us! ; _ ; - I'll get back to this in a second.

I found it funny how Hino is facing all this hatred and negative energy from all these people (excluding Tsukimori). Her mind has become sharper and her determination has not faltered once. Currently, Hino is truly inspiring to the readers since she's going against what everyone says about her, and wants to prove them wrong.

It seems her lessons with Tsukimori is going well, but there's a part that she always messes up, and that might be the most critical part of her performance that she would be worried about.

-Back to Tsukimori:
On the last page as the cliffhanger, Ryotaro is left saying: "-.... ....Eh? ... That day is..."

Which gives us three options of what that day maybe...

A) The day After the Concours/ Cultural Festival
B) The day Of the Concours/ Cultural Festival
C) The day Before the Concours/ Cultural Festival

Pretty general, but if its B, then that's pretty specific.

-_-* Yeah, I know: these are really bad theories.

Tokyo Magnitude Ep 8

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Summary:

Taking place where Yuuki had suddenly fallen unconscious. Mari runs to get help where Yuuki can be treated at a hospital. Horrified and tired Mirai keeps on visualizing Yuuki dead in her nightmares. This happens twice, though the second time she wakes up she finds herself outside resting on bedrolls and looked to the one beside her, where her brother's bag rested. Getting up she searches for her brother, where she finds him playing soccer with some other children. She calls him over and tells him not to leave her side and to continue to rest, even though the doctor said it was alright for him to run again. The two of them talk and share fits of laughter. Mirai also shares her nightmare how she thought he had died. They then get up to return to Mari, while Mirai tells him to promise her that whenever he is having the slightest pain, or he isn't feeling well, tell her immediately.

Elsewhere Mari listens to the news about her home, and is suddenly called by the receptionist to receive her documents that she had requested. When she returns to where Mirai was previously resting and then takes Yuuki's backpack in search for them. Eventually she finds them and they start off again to return to their journey back home. Mirai decides to carry Yuuki's backpack since she wants him to rest. She remarks how it's surprisingly heavy.

While walking through the park, Mirai notices how Mari is acting usual, and decides to try and reassure her by telling her that her family is waiting for her back at home safely. Mari wipes her eyes and thanks Mirai and asks if she wants her to carry the backpack. Mirai refuses since she said that Yuuki was able to carry it, and that she's his sister. She then runs off to catch up to Yuuki leaving Mari behind with an uncertain expression on her face and follows after her.

Impression:

My god this episode was driving me insane, freaking me out, making me sit at the edge of my seat desperately waiting to see if Yuuki was alright or not. It was so nerve-wracking not knowing if Yuuki was alive or not. I was freaking out because I couldn't tell whether it was a dream or not. And when Mirai started acting a bit out of character, I was starting to wonder if she was pretending that he was actually alive - or maybe he isn't...I'm still confused.
Mari knows something that she hasn't told the children yet, I don't know what it is, but I'm starting to worry whether she found out that their parents are actually dead, or that her mother and daughter are not alright, or even possibly that Yuuki is dead and Mirai is facing illusions since she doesn't want to believe it. Either way, I'm looking forward for the next episode. I'm hoping that Mari's family is alright. It'd be devastating if they aren't. Mirai character has changed drastically - though I'm not sure if this is because, (like I just said) she is pretending that Yuuki isn't dead.

There was something that made me concerned about this; especially since when Mari went to where Mirai was previously resting, she called out Mirai's name alone, not Yuuki's. And this happened twice.
And Mari is also acting strangely. She's too quite, and I don't remember seeing her smile (other that the nightmares moments). There's something going on, and I'm not comfortable with what the answer could be.

Umi Monogatari Ep 8

Thursday, August 27, 2009

Summary:

The childhood flashback begins, where the two girls are playing hide and seek. Joyous laughter and horrified screams from being startled, and of course dancing with the whales - life couldn't get better.
While Kanon returns to the surface with Warin, the sea being explains how Marin and Urin aren't blood related in any way, and how they sea beings are born from sea shells, so they don't know how their parents are. However Marin waited for Urin to be born and acknowledged her as her little sister.
Back where Marin is resting, she keeps on telling herself that Urin is waiting for her as if trying to reassure herself, still unable to transform.

When Kanon returns home, her mother tells her that Kojima came by to see if she was alright since he saw her swimming in the ocean. Though not too long later, Kanon receives a call from Ooshima who requests her to meet up.

Kanon learns the truth that Kojima never actually dumped her, but she has indirectly done so, but never clarified it. Ooshima also confessed that she never felt this way for anyone and that she really wants to be Kojima's girlfriend, and asked if Kanon was still in love with him.
Indeed Kanon is still in love with him, it was just her own fault from misunderstanding his actions of kindness.

Back in the sea, Marin returns to the fallen shrine that is now in ruins. Matsumoto becomes suspicious from the amount of ominous energy. Marin ignores him and tries to break her way into the strange looking bubble that suddenly starts to drag her in, harming both Sam and Warin when they came to her rescue. When they are safe, Warin scolds Marin for acting so rashly and that she can't go and save Urin without her maiden powers. Warin then suggests that she returns to Kanon house where she can probably learn from Kanon, who has darkness in her heart - and yet she can still use her maiden powers.
With that done, they all retreat leaving Urin alone, who is told that the sea beings have left, and her asking why did they have to do. How she hates being alone. The eerie voice that she speaks to tells her that no one will ever come back, no one will return...No one.

Impression:

I was surprised that they actually put in the Opening since it looked as if it wasn't going to have one this episode - but it proved me wrong. The episode overall was pretty boring, and it was cute to see Marin and Urin when they were younger.
I'm not sure what's lacking in this anime, but I'm starting to get bored because of how slow the plot going - though I'm not certain whether it's a good thing or a bad thing. The last two episodes didn't entertain me, and I'm starting to not want to blog this anymore. However I'll give the next episode one more chance to see if something will kick in, though according to the preview, it doesn't look promising - but then again, I could be underestimating this.

Umi Monogatari Ep 7

Summary:

Surprise, surprise; the servant who had disobeyed Sedna's orders and was turned back into its original form was actually the Elder Turtle's daughter, who will join their team. However, every since Urin disappeared, Marin been depress and is determined to save her - alone.
Immediately she decides to return to the sea in search for her younger sister and bring her back. Kanon who wishes accompany her is told to search somewhere in her house for the Porterius Ring, that will allow her to breathe underwater, which she eventually found.

While deep under the sea Marin reunites with Warin and Sam who joins her in search for her sister - however frustrated and desperate, Marin claims she wants to do it alone so that she proves to Urin that she sincerely cares about her.
But before she could swim off into the eerie worn down shrine, a monstrous squid appears and attacks them. Marin refuses to backdown and is determined to get by it - however her powers aren't working and is hopeless in this battle.

Luckily, Kanon appears just in time and battles the giant squid, and then tries the purifying method that Marin usually does - and successfully purified the beast, who turned out to be a pug that belonged to a fisherman who she knows of, in the mean time searching for his dog. She returns the dog back to the surface where he is reunited with his owner.

Kanon, Marin, Sam, Warn and the two turtles all hurry into the shrine where there is overflowing dark energy. The Elder Turtle is suddenly startled to see the seal removed, where then right on the cue, loads of energy erupted from the once sealed coffin, where then revealed Urin within a cocoon.

Marin desperately cries out for her sister to come back and return to her side and tells her not to accept that dark power. As she takes a step closer Urin lashes out a blinding light where the cavern starts to collapses as they are blown away, leaving them no choice but to retreat.

Impression:

The episode was pretty good. The quality was really good and I'm happy to see that Kanon is starting to accept the role of the Sky Maiden. I think that Kanon makes a better priestess since she has a grip of what reality really like. For Marin, she's thinks - or rather thought life was good and bright where happiness will always be around them. But with her sister gone, it's definitely a wake up call for Marin, which will help her develop her own character.
Marin was acting very reckless this episode, and I was entertained (strangely enough) that she couldn't use her powers and that it was up to Kanon to take care of things.

It seems next week going to continue getting interesting, it seems that there will be a flashback about Marin's and Urin's childhood. I suspect it'll be somewhat boring and cute at the same time. Well whatever, I'll bare with it.

Fly High ~Chapter 6~

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Summary:

Ever since Ruka kissed Meru, she has been freaking out, trying to figure out whether he likes her or not. While at the same time, she realizes that isn't as strong as she used to be, realizing that things that she used to find light as a feather are now heavy like boulders. Not understanding why this is happening, she theorized that it's because of the kiss.
Then Meru goes to see Uno if she was okay since her last 'fight' with Ayuzawa. She also takes that time to explain that she isn't President to drive their group away, but to stop them controlling the students with fear and that she wants everyone to have fun at school. Of course, as usual, Uno ignores her and starts babbling away, spitting out little bits of the truth which had influenced them to act this way in the first place. Catching herself, Uno changes the topic and turns away only to knock over some heavy equipment. Meru gets injured by protecting Uno. As result she breaks her leg and is told to rest for the month. While at the hospital, she asks Ruka what's his reason by the kiss. Her brushes it off by saying it's a greeting they use in the US. Suddenly he tosses some objects which she successfully catches, and remarks that isn't something he should do to a sick person. Of course, by doing that, he was able to prove that she got her strength back.
Outside of the hospital room, Uno hesitates to go inside - only to be interrupted when Meru's mother comes dashing into the room who asks if someone was responsible for breaking her daughter's leg, causing Uno to flinch and then be surprised when Meru answered that it was nobody's fault except for her own.

Both, she and Uno stayed home for a whole week. For Meru, she was to rest while Uno's case is unknown.
When Meru returns to school, she is suprised to see now that their student council has offical members. Ruka as Vice President and Yuuki.
Expressing her joy that her leg is feeling much better, as well as relieving students at their school to see her healthy again, Meru goes to the rooftop where then she is attacked by Ayuzawa who at the same time asked whether her leg was healed. Ayuzawa declares that he wants to have a showdown with her where if he loses, he will never bother the student council again, while in the case she loses, she will have to stop being President, and will have to do whatever he says until he graduates.

Confident that she would win, excitedly she jumps from the roof and make an announcement, with the idea in mind that she will land safely, only then to realize while in midair that her leg isn't completely healed, and maybe it will indeed take one whole month to heal.
As result of her landing, she ends up severely injuring both legs.

The next day, Ayuzawa waits and wonders what's taking her so long. Just when he starts to wonder if she had ran away, she shows up on crutches, her legs dangling with an ecstatic expression on her face claiming that she's ready to duel. Ayuzawa can't help but look dumbfounded and ask, "Are you serious?"

Impression:

I found it amusing that Meru ended up breaking both of her legs, and she is still determined to fight against Ayuzawa. Though, due to the circumstances, I can picture - as according to Ayuzawa's character that he will decline the match between them since he doesn't want her to have an excuse why she lost. But then again, this would be a piece of cake for him.
It's obvious now (thanks to Uno) that their group were bullied or perhaps abused in the past, and how they no trust people, and have the image of Kindness considered fake.

Soul Eater chapter 64: Readiness

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Series summary:

In Soul Eater, meister (職人 shokunin?) Maka Albarn and her weapon partner Soul Eater are students at the Death Weapon Meister Academy (死神武器職人専門学校 Shinigami Buki Shokunin Senmon Gakkō?), or DWMA (死武専 Shibusen?) for short, located in the fictional Death City,[1] in Nevada, United States. The school has many other students including Black Star with his weapon partner Tsubaki, and Death the Kid with his twin weapon partners Liz and Patti. The school is run by Shinigami, Death himself, as a training facility for weapons and the human wielders of those weapons, the meisters.[1] Maka's goal, along the other meisters, is to have their weapons defeat and absorb the souls of ninety-nine evil humans and one witch, which will dramatically increase the power of the given weapon and thus be capable of being used by shinigami; these weapons are called Death Scythes.[1] In the universe ofSoul Eater, witches are powerful beings and the natural enemies of DWMA, as almost all of them have a destructive nature and almost all desire anarchy and chaos.

At the start of Soul Eater, Maka and Soul encounter the meister Crona and Crona's weapon Ragnarok; Crona is being forced to attack non-evil humans by Crona's mother and witch Medusa. Medusa eventually recruits the witches Eruka and Mizune, along with the immortal werewolf Free. Medusa and her cohorts attack DWMA on the eve of the festival to commemorate the establishment of DWMA. Medusa's goal is to revive the first "kishin" (鬼神?), an evil demon god that nearly destroyed everything by plunging the world into madness, named Asura who was sealed beneath the DWMA by Shinigami. Medusa's group successfully revives Asura, though Medusa is seemingly killed in the process.

As Asura escapes the DWMA, the world is plunged into chaos and insanity, and because of this, Medusa's older sister Arachne comes out of hiding after 800 years. Arachne reforms her organization Arachnophobia, which poses itself as a serious threat to the DWMA; Arachne is joined closely by her demon butler Mosquito and demon weapon Giriko. The DWMA calls in the Death Scythes Justin Law, Yumi Azusa, and Marie Mjölnir to aide in the fight against Arachnophobia. During this time, Medusa is proven to be alive and possesses a young girl named Rachel. Maka and the other students are progressively getting stronger as they train and participate in various battles. Medusa makes a truce with the DWMA for a time so together they can annihilate the threat of Arachnophobia. Once Arachne is killed by Maka, Medusa betrays the DWMA and takes possession of Arachne's previously discarded body, regaining her lost strength.(thank you WIKI! this is the reason for the 'first impression' tag on the bottom :p)

Ok, so now you have a feel to what Soul Eater is about, this review is for the ‘saga’ that comes after all the deal with Arachne is done. Soul has recently transformed into a deathsythe since he ate Arachne’s soul and all the kids have been promoted to Spartoi, well, except for Kid since he was kidnapped and all….anyways, now that you know, onwards to the chapter review!

Summary:

Maka is seen flying around with Kim albeit really slowly…her puny soul wings just can’t fly fast enough. Soul thinks that even though now he is a deathsythe, he isn’t powerfull or ready enough to take on the things they are going to get themselves into (like saving Kid for example), Soul also remembers a conversation he, Maka and her dad (Spirit) had before.

Spirit told them that since they are part of Spartoi now and that they are level two stars meisters and weapons that Shibusen expects them to help around in suppressing the Kishin and witches that are still around. He also says that just like them, their enemies aren’t just going to do nothing and that they are targeting specialy talented people on Shibusen’s side, and this means Maka and her soul perception ability. It is imperative that Maka’s abilities are protected for the Shibusen’s sake.

Maka got offended that it seemed like her dad only cared about the safety of her powers instead of hers (*pout, pout*), Spirit asks Soul to intercede for him. (Soul: Wtf am I? your shrink??)

As Soul is thinking about all this, Maka tells Kim to please go ahead since she doesn’t want to hold her back and make her get late to class, to which Kim gladly accepts and takes off.

Of course this is just a rouse since Maka felt someone coming with a strong killing intent towards them.

This person turned out to be Gopher, one of Noah’s faitful servants, and he’s (really? A he?) hellbent on killing Maka for his master’s sake. Maka takes a peek out of his soul and discovers that he has the same type of soul she has, Grogori, but it’s full of evil magic.

Gopher proceeds to kick the crap out of Maka until he has her against a rock, he is just too fast for her and her puny angel wings….Maka gets fed up and says F*UCK IT! (ok not really, but you can guess she was thinking it! XD) and these spiky not-angel-like-at-all wings come out from Soul and she says “Now is a proper fight”.

Impression:

Meh. Waiting a whole month just to see some flips and kicks….I mean, I know it’s necessary but…the chapter felt boring for me, the only new things we have learned were that Gopher had the angel thingy soul like Maka and those new wings she got in the end of the chapter.

I hope next month we’ll have some more story development, or at least a really kick ass fight! (and KID dammit1! DX)

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 Ep 7

Saturday, August 22, 2009

Summary:

As Mirai, Yuuki and Mari continue their journey back home, today they saw robots rescuing people as well as meeting a boy named Kento, who eustastically studies them. They meet him several times due to Yuuki constantly following him every time he spots him.
However, as exciting as learning about what the robots do, and making a new friend who makes you think twice about how you feel and treat your family; a problem occurs asYuuki starts to stumble and get headaches, as well of refusing to eat and vomiting. Though as all of these things are happening, Yuuki refuses to rest completely and continues to run about - even at the point he felt like he wanted to fall, but kept in mind that if he didn't run and get help, somebody could get killed.
Eventually, by the end up the day with both his sister and Kento safe thanks to Yuuki running for help due to Kento's rash actions of trying to save a robot rather than save himself, along with Mirai who went to help him - and ends up getting a terrible gash on her leg. Yuuki has no more energy and it warn out. With his fever or whatever happening, he had reached the point where he has collasped and fallen unconscious.

Impression:

[Summary may sound rushed, but I wanted to see how short I can make it without having to write an insanely long one like I usually do. My original summary got too long and so I decided to try and edit it to the point it can be as short as possible.]

Kento's character came into handy of making Mirai think more about her parents and wonders if she has been a bad child. This shows that her character is developing, and it has been thanks to Kento's influence as well of the earthquake's.

I'm starting to worry about what's going to happen to Yuuki. If it were a real life situation, and they were traveling alone, without Mari - he'd probably end up dying.
But since Mari is here, there's a better chance of his surviving. Though if it happens to be a Heatstroke as Mari guessed, well things aren't going to run smoothly as planned.

It seems like the aftershocks are getting weaker, so that's a good sign. With that conflict almost over and done with, it seems that now it'll be all about Survival and Edurance and the battle against Health Problems.

Momo ~Chapter 11~

Friday, August 21, 2009

-Comming Soon-
"""The Story of the Planet as it went Towards Destruction..."

Summary:

With the renovations starting at Yume's apartment, for the time being she will be living at Momo's mansion and is excited to do so. Yume is shown to her room and is told to unpack - Nanagi asks when they want for dinner, when Yume starts to say, "Meat", Momo says "Boiled Tofu" - which stabs Yume in the back since she really wanted to have meat. Nanagi noticing her reaction despite that fact that she said she'd have Tofu as well, he told them that he'll get Tofu and Meat - along with a bonus, giving them a smile (probably indicated to Yume)
In the mean time, while Nanagi heads out to get groceries for dinner, he is taken away by Piko who claims he will help him get revenge on Momo who destroyed Nanagi's planet by giving him a sword that has the power to kill her.
Later that night, Nanagi lurks into Momo's room and prepares to stab her when then he noticed Yume's presence, who woke up on time to cover Momo, protesting, asking him in confusion about why he was going to do this!
However, Momo woke up, and shocked Yume by saying it's alright for Nanagi to kill her.
Without hestitation, Nanga pierces Momo in front of Yume who then quickly grabs him telling him to stop it and removes the pierced sword and knocks it out of his hands, causing Piko to make both of them retreat. Yume frantically calls out to Momo when then is told by Sanari who had just arrived that she will be alright, and she will just need some rest for the time being.
Yume is frustrated and confused and requests Sanari to tell her why Nanagi is with Momo. Sanari tells her that since she is a representative, it will not be a happy tale. Yume determinly answers that she wants to know about Momo and Nanagi.
Sanari agrees and tells her to close her eyes, and he will show her, The Story of the Planet as it went Towards Destruction...

Impression:

WAAAAH! Why does it have to be so short! (or at least feel that way!!!) \oO/
Oh my god - damn! I want to read the next chapter, like...RIGHT NOW!!!

Well we are finally getting some background information about our two most mysterious characters, and the truth and reason why Nanagi wanted to seek revenge on Momo so badly, and why Momo has Nanagi traveling with her.
I'm going to guess that since this is a flashback, this could probably last as long as 2 - 3 chapters, though it may be shorter than I theorize.
I wouldn't be suprise if we also got a glimsp of Nanagi having a flashback while Piko is ranting away or something like that. Either way, this is going to get very interesting!

^w^ I found it so cute that Yume is going to teach Momo how to make chocolate, but it looks like there might be a delay.

Also that annoying boy, Piko: who gave Nanagi the sword - looks like he was going to just "use" Nanagi and destroy the planet himself. (Obviously because he doesn't really give the damn about what so great about Earth and probably thinks this kind of business is like a hobby of blowing up planets for his own amusement.)
I wonder what kind of planet Nanagi lived in and why it was destroyed. For once, I'm actually excited to see a Flashback Chapter! xD
