Summer Anime Pre-Impression 2009

Thursday, June 25, 2009
Hey everyone, welcome to the Wonderland of Anime Blog Spot!
My name is AnimeAngel4eva, and I am your host. XD
This is my first time actually trying to blog anime, so please be nice to me. ^_^*
Anyhow, without further a do let's get right to it.

Super Late, I know, but at least it'll give you a brief idea of what I'm planning to blog for this summer...
----------

Pre-Impressions:

Well, it's summer already - and it's time for the new Animes to come out!
Judging what I have seen during the Fall, Winter and Spring Season - I have to say that this Summer might have a good season for the releases.

Here's a a few Animes I have already taken interest in based on the Previews and Summaries.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou

Japanese Air Date: July 11th
Animation Company: Nomad (Rozen Maiden, Sola)
Check out the Website: http://www.gendaimahou.com/

Summary
Adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s light novels, with the title translated as “Properly Learned Modern Magic.”

The story revolves around Koyomi Morishita, a clumsy high school freshman girl who is often mistaken for a grade-schooler because of her shortness. Koyomi becomes a disciple of Misa Anehara, a 25-year-old graduate student who happens to be one of the most powerful modern-day magicians. (ANN)

Impression:

When it comes to magic, I'm all for it. But I'm not quite sure how much I'll enjoy the plot. Judging the summary and trailer, I suppose it might perk up my interest, but just not enough to actually write an entry about. Though that might change after watching a few episodes. Either way, I'll post my First Impression, and from there on we'll see if I'll be blogging this.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

Japanese Air Date: July 9th
Animation Company: BONES (Eureka Seven, Fullmetal Alchemist)
Check out the Website: http://tokyo-m8.com/index.shtml
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTjpjnrhSp4

Summary:

A BONES original production.

The premise of the project is the 70% or higher possibility that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years. The anime will depict what would happen if an 8.0 earthquake took place, attempting to realistically portray the consequences of such a tremor after collecting data on actual earthquakes and interviewing people.

The story will center on Mirai, a middle school freshman girl who goes to Tokyo’s artificial Odaiba Island for a robot exhibition with her brother Yutaka at the start of summer vacation. A powerful tremor emanates from an ocean trench, the famed Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge crumble and fall, and the landscape of Tokyo changes in an instant. With the help of a motorcycle delivery woman named Mari who they meet on Odaiba, Mirai and Yutaka strive to head back to their Setagaya home in western Tokyo. (ANN)

Impression:

I have to admit it, I'm seriously excited to see this one, and there's a real good chance that I'll be blogging it.
I admit it, I am facinated about natural diasters (but that doesn't mean I enjoy hearing and reading about the intial destruction it caused and how much it effected the victims), and I've also been interested in researching about such things.

The main reason why I'm excited about this production is because I believe this would be a great way to make people more aware of how dangerous, and what kind of results you would see if that were to ever happen (let's all hope not.).
Since this is BONES Original production, I'm sure they'll blow us away. I'm a fan of their works.

Check out the Website: http://www.canaan.jp/
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZMZbUAXnAc

Summary:

Adaptation of Sega and Chunsoft’s 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ visual novel for the Wii, titled CANAAN.

It tells a present-day story about a detective, a young man, a virus researcher, a freelance writer, and a cat mascot character who are brought together by bizarre events with worldwide implications in the Tokyo neighborhood of Shibuya. (ANN)

Impression:

I've always enjoyed these kinds of plots. Where strangers are brought together and such.
The animation quality looks good, and I love the style of the characters. (I'm picky about quality of animation and such...-_-*)
I'll definitely try and keep my eye out for this one. It's been a while since I've watched an Action Anime.
The characters also look very unique. I cannot wait to start watching it! Hopefully it'll turn out good as it seems.

Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~

Japanese Air Date: June 24th
Animation Company: Zexcs (D.C ~ Da Capo~, Sister Princess)
Check out the Website:
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlJfWafN8w4&feature=related
I would suggest you to watch this trailer, because I found the other trailer revealed to much of what the anime was about. I think it's best to have a bit more of a suprise when you first watch the anime. So I believe this trailer here would be the most suitable for you to watch without spoiling yourself too much.

Summary:

The “transforming magical girl action” story centers on Marin and Urin, two “pure” sisters who live alongside the fish in the sea, but yearn to be in the world beyond the water and above ground. One day, a beautiful ring falls in the middle of the sea, and Marin and Urin retrieve it. The two decide to leave their waterbound world for the first time to deliver the ring. After an arduous journey, they come across an isolated island where a high school girl named Kanon lives. The encounter between Marin and Kanon — the maiden of the sea and the maiden of the skies — awakens a hidden power as the world is threatened by an enveloping darkness. (ANN)

Impression:

Right after watching the trailer, the first thing that ran through my head was, "OMG, this looks SO much like Mermaid Melody!!!!"
No kidding, the main character eyes, hair, almost everything about her reminds me of Lucia! The only different thing about this anime is that this character lives underwater, but isn't a mermaid (or at least I don't think so, because she doesn't have a fin)...

Well I much say, just by watching the trailer - this anime will most definitely have some great quality animation. I also find the plot fairly interesting since an encounter between the maiden of the sea and the maiden of the skies causes a hidden power that threatens the world.

It's been awhile since I've watched a "transforming magical girl" anime, and actually, I have been searching all over the internet for some animes with that matching genres, but unfortunitely they are either too childish or I've already watched them.
I'm also happy that this will be having some "action" scenes - hopefully there'll be some good battle scenes (hey, I'm a sucker for magical battle scenes) - as well exceed my expectations. (Though I know I shouldn't be expecting too much at the moment)

However there was one major concern that I can't help but worry about.
I absolutely hate predictable plots - as I know this one is different from common "the land and the sea" stories, but I just can't help but have a weird feeling that this anime might be too predictable for me.

Ah what the heck - as long as I don't think too much into it, I shouldn't be able to predict it. (lol) XD
